Natural remedy for acid reflux is not chemically processed and has no side effects.
Acid reflux is also known as heartburn, and it affects many
people. Chances are that one is likely to suffer from acid reflux at
one time in their lifetime. Natural remedy for acid reflux includes
home treatment which can possibly provide cure to heartburns in some
people. However, one form of treatment does not necessarily work for
everyone. It depends on how serious the condition is. For better
diagnosis, a physician usually runs tests on individuals to know the
extent of damage.
Some natural remedy for acid reflux includes drinking milk. Milk is
known to provide a temporary relief from heartburns. Milk is alkaline;
therefore, it neutralizes hydrochloric acid in the esophagus.
Drink a lot of water. Water is found naturally in copious amounts
and can be taken anywhere. Taking about 8 glasses of water everyday is
recommended. A person is exposed to the toxins of the environment most
of the time; hence it increases the acidity level in the body. Water
is a good natural detoxifying agent. When one drinks water, it soothes
the corroded walls of esophagus, hence providing relief.
Apple cider vinegar is also a natural remedy for acid reflux. Raw
apple cider vinegar is more nutritious in its natural form. It reduces
the pH level of the stomach providing a favorable environment for
digestion. Two to three tablespoonfuls will correct the problem.
Almonds and cinnamon are also known to provide relief to the
stomach. Cinnamon has antiseptic ability to heal the wounds on the
lining of the esophagus. Chew almonds for best results.
Avoid alcohol and quit smoking. They trigger an increase in the
production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Coffee, bicarbonate
sodas and spicy foods make mild situations worse and harder to
treat.
Eat less food. Do not eat food and immediately lie down. Spare
about two hours after eating and bed. The stomach is structured in a
way that it can accept only a specified amount of food at one
seating. Overeating will make the muscle valves openings to the
stomach weak. They will be forced to open when they shouldn' because
too much pressure has been exerted on them.
Chewing gum is also a natural remedy which works well for reliving
heartburns. When one chews gum, a lot of saliva is secreted in the
process. Saliva is alkaline, and therefore, it neutralizes acid when
swallowed.
Supplement the diet with fresh fruits and vegetables such as
cabbage, carrots, lettuce and papaya. They aid in metabolism and are
good in clearing soreness in the esophagus.
